Pruebas de Alzheimer realizadas en la Universidad de California

Alzheimer Test: 

The University of California at Los Angeles researches have developed the firts test for Alzheimer’s that can be done on a living patient. The noninvasive test uses a PET scan with injection of a chemical tracer to locate brain lesions. American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry President Stphen Bartels said the test could improve early diagnosis. (January American Journal of Geriatic Psychiatric)

Alzheimer’s Disease:( Medication)

Melatonin, a widedely used naturally ocurring hormone used to treat insomnia and jet lag, reverse the formation of protein complex that is a hallmark of Alzheimer’s desease researchers conclude. Melatonin inhibits the process of forming the signature amyloid protein bundles seen in AD. What is equally intriguing is that persons with AD also show lkower concentrations of melathonin in theirs brains.

Alzheimer’s Disease:

A low level of education (less than eight years of school) is related to an increased incidence of clinical Alzheimer’s disease or dementian among the ederly in Swedan, but not increased mortality in people with AD or dementia, researche concluded.There was no significant difference in dementia incidence for persons with the high school education and those with a university educvation. AD and dementia is more evident in women than in men. (December Archives of Neurology, 2001;58:2034-2039)
